Boozy Nights, a Magician, Yummy Food & Broome

It has been a quiet few weeks but here are a few highlights...

We were entertained at The Norfolk by a French Magician before having cocktails and shooters at The Newport with Kylie and "Ranga".

We had a tasty meal at an Ethiopian Restaurant with Fiona.

We took a stroll around Mount Lawley before enjoying a bottle of wine and nibbles at Must.

We took Bluey off road and went walking in the bush in the Avon Valley, where we saw our first emu and Rupan fell over and hurt her knee - which Steve found very funny!

We walked down the main street of York, Australia's oldest inland town and bought some chutney at the local craft market.

We went to The Fremantle Medical Staff diner at Mosmans Restaurant.

Last weekend Rupan flew up north to Broome. Steve flew up on the Thursday, Rupan was however in Derby and would not be back until Friday. After checking in at Beaches of Broome hostel, Steve walked the 4km into town and hired a mountain bike, found a cafe and sat consulting the local "Whats On Guide". There were a few country and western bands playing at various bars, a wet T-shirt competition at The Roey and topless male barmen serving at The Bungalow..... a cultural smorgasbord!? Not wishing to dosey doe, be seen as a creepy old man or a fruiter he went to the Zeebar, located next door to the hostel.

Next day Steve explored the surrounding area before meeting up with Rupan and her colleagues for a couple of beers at the very popular Sunset Bar & Grill. We watched the sunset and the camels return from Cable Beach. We dropped Anton & Rupert at the airport and then headed to The Wharf Restaurant, just out of town. Rupan had the pepper crab and Steve had the lobster - it was very tasty and the portions were enormous! Now something to wash it down with. We headed back into town to Matsos - the local brewery. We ordered the tasting paddle, the Mango Beer and the Hit the Toad Lager were okay but the Chilli Beer was not so good - yuk!

On Saturday Rupan hired a bike and we cycled into town to the Courthouse Markets. After wandering around the local art and crafts stalls we had some tasty Med-Asian tapas at The Aaarli and then drinks at The Roey. (Home of the Roey Burger -  a monster 800g of meat and 20cm tall)! That afternoon we had a brief visit to Sun Pictures - the worlds oldest outdoor cinema. Then we spent the remainder of the afternoon visiting the Pearl Luggers Museum - trying on a old diving helmet, tasting pearl meat and we also got to hold a $100,000 pearl. In its heyday Broome harvested 75% of the worlds pearl and was home to 400 pearl luggers.

Sunday morning we took a 10k walk along Cable Beach to Gantheaume Point and back. Cable Beach is beautiful and is one of the most iconic in all of Australia, and often wins the Worlds Best Beach award. After our walk we had lunch and a beer at The Divers Tavern before it was time to catch our flight back to Perth.
